Bus Routes
The Compass Board of Directors has approved the acquisition of a fourth bus. With the addition of a fourth bus, Brown Bus Co. and School Administration are looking in to the possibility of moving he 6th grade to the elementary schedule (9:00-3:45). However, we must have an accurate count of the 6th grade students currently riding the bus. The last thing we want to do is change the 6th grade schedule and then learn that we don't have enough bus space even with the fourth bus. Therefore, this week, the bus drivers are taking counts of the 6th grade students on each route in order to determine an average for each route each day. We will inform families via email as soon as there has been a decision about the 6th grade schedule and when the new routes are ready. The change will NOT take place next week.

Parent Orientation
The parent orientation night is for both new and returning parents. This is an opportunity to meet your child's teacher as well as learn about the exciting changes and events going on at Compass. This is an evening for parents so we ask that you arrange for children to stay at home. We look forward to meeting you!

School Board Meeting
Our regular school board meetings are held on the second Thursday of each month at 6:00pm in the school auditorium. Our Board Chair, Mike Adolf, sends out a letter to school families a few days in advance of the meeting highlighting the upcoming agenda topics. Attending school board meetings is an excellent way to stay informed.

School Carnival
The school carnival will be held at the end of September. There will be music performances by several grade levels, sports games, and yummy food. Watch for more information to come out regarding this family fun event!

Annual Events Calendar
There are a variety of groups that operate within a school system. Each group has desires and needs which require volunteers as well as funds. At Compass, we strive to involve families without creating a stress or burden on the family. The idea behind the events is to provide an opportunity for families to be involved and get to know each other. While most events are also fundraisers, they are a choice, therefore contributing to the fundraisers isn’t required. (See attached events calendar)

Exiting the Cherry Lane Campus Parking Lot
Some concerns have been brought up regarding our new crossing at Cherry Lane. The concerns include:

The parents turning left out of Compass after picking up/dropping off the kids. They are not looking towards the crosswalk as they turn left and it is extremely dangerous.

The morning sun making it difficult for drivers to see the children and the signal. This will become a bigger issue as the season changes.

The parents waving the children on without checking to see if the lane next to them is clear as well. Just because the parent is stopped doesn't mean the car next to them will be.

Possible Solutions:

Parents only turn right going out of the parking lot and find a location down the road to turn around if necessary.

Parent volunteers help students cross for 15 minutes before school and 15 minutes after school. If you are interested in volunteering, please email Mrs. Trudeau a

Pick-up and Drop-off at Tech Lane Campus
We received a phone call from the manager at Western Electronics (our new "neighbors" at the Tech Lane Building). The manager expressed several concerns, the first of which is that some parents are picking up and dropping off in their kids in the Western Electronics parking lot. Also, bike riders are using the sidewalks, however they aren't pausing at the driveways, but just shooting out in front of the cars. Parents are also dropping off and picking up on Tech Lane. These are concerns because Western Electronics has industrial traffic and large trucks due to the fact that they are a manufacturing plant. Please follow the traffic flow map and pick up and drop off your children in the designated areas only. Thank you for helping us keep your children safe while at school!
