Compass Cross Country: Ready, Aim, Fire!
Welcome to Compass Cross Country!  My name is Lynette Simpson, and this is my 3rd year coaching at Compass. We're looking forward to another great season!  Our season officially begins on the first day of school, August 14. We practice 1:40-3:10 Mondays; 2:40-4:10 Tuesday-Friday, at the Tech Lane Campus.  Typically, our meets are on Thursdays, at various locations in the valley (Schedule usually posts late August).

Any amount of running you do during the summer will give you huge benefits during the season. Summer Miles Bring Autumn Smiles! (Please see attached suggested running schedule.) If you decide to participate in cross country and haven’t already been running, please still come out! The great thing about cross country is you can always improve, no matter what level you start at.  It’s a great sport. The runners become great friends, and have a lot of fun together.
Feel free to contact me with any questions. Email:

Parent Engagement Committee
Have any of these questions ever crossed your mind: Where can I find out about my student's assignments? How can I help in my teacher's classroom? What is power school all about? Why does Compass do things this way? What is the school's mission? What is Google classroom? How does this grading policy work? How can my voice be heard? How can I get involved? If so, then the Teacher/Parent Empowerment night is the night for you!

I would like to invite all of you to the Teacher/Parent Empowerment night that will be taking place August 31st from 7-9 PM at the secondary campus, 1422 S. Tech Ln., Meridian. During this most important night, you will be invited to attend various workshops on the following topics: Power school, Schoology, Google classroom, Behavioral grades, the Grading policy, Love and logic (Rules with Reasons), Essential Educational Tips for parents, Two way communication (Surveys, Potlucks, Facebook, Instagram, Twitter), Meet the Board!, Q and A with administration. Each workshop will be about 15 minutes long so you will get to choose which ones you would like to attend. Also, the parent engagement committee will provide cookies and brownies. There will also be door prizes! So come ready to win! You have to be present to win! The committee would love to see you all there for this night of empowerment!

On another note, the committee would like to invite you to some summer events. We are having movie nights at the park.

Movie Night at Settlers Park
June 23:  Storks
July 14:  Beauty and the Beast

If you plan on coming to these events, please wear school colors and sit with others from Compass. This will be a great time to build the Compass community outside of school.

If you ever have any questions about the parent engagement committee, or you would like to get involved with this committee, please email Jon Stadtlander at
