Power Announcement System
On Tuesday you will receive a test of our Power Announcement System to your email and voice mail (home and cell). The email is routed through another server, therefore, you may want to check your junk mail file in case the announcement goes there. The email announcement will have a link where you can go to update email accounts and phone numbers. It is critical that we have updated contact information as this is the system we will be using to inform parents of school closures and emergencies.
Roaring Springs Reading Program
Attached is the information for the Roaring Springs Reading Program. The reading log form will also be available on the school website so that families can print it from home. With three weeks of vacation coming up, there is a great opportunity to read and log your hours and earn a Roaring Springs Day Pass. The deadline for submitting reading logs is March 22, 2013 which is the Friday before Spring Break.
Once again the PFA has requested ideas from teachers for Christmas gifts. The virtual giving tree is attached and will be available on the school website as well as on hard copy in the main office. This is a great way of showing your child's teacher how much you appreciate all that they do!
Compass Families in Need
Compass staff and parents have created a tradition of coming together to support Compass families in need during the holiday season. There are two parts to supporting this effort, 1. Providing names of those families who need support and 2. Sending in money to purchase cash gift cards for the families. Please email names of families to me at email@example.com and send funds in an envelope marked "Families in Need" to the main office.
December 6th is our 4-5 grade Christmas Concert at Ten Mile Christian church at 7:00 pm. This is a mandatory performance and is for a huge part of their grade. Every year I write all kinds of narration, bells, vocal... parts so that EVERY STUDENT will have a special part in the program. If your student needs a ride to the concert, please let Mrs. Choate know or talk with other parents who live close to you and work something out so that your student will be at the program. Your child has been preparing very hard for this concert so I hope you will make every effort to be in attendance to share in this exciting evening. Dress for the concert will be Christmas Best! Any color is fine. Girls - dresses or skirts and shirt with leggings. Boys - dress pants, shirt and tie. Thrift stores are a great place to get some nice and inexpensive concert attire.
