School Safety

School safety is on our minds due to the tragic events that occurred at Sandy Hook Elementary School in Connecticut this past month. School safety is everyone’s concern and responsibility. The Compass Board of Directors, Administration, and Staff consider your children’s safety our first priority. It is part of our school philosophy – “The philosophy of the Compass Public Charter School is grounded in the belief that when there is low threat and content is highly challenging, accelerated learning takes place.” In other words, we believe that children succeed in a safe environment. Please read the attached safety letter which provides suggestions for parents to partner with the school in maintaining a safe school environment.

The school will be conducting a Lockdown Drill within the next couple of weeks. Please assure your children that practicing these types of drills doesn’t mean that anything bad is going to happen at their school.
