News from Mr. Henning

Our final two recycling days will be on Thursday, May 10, and Thursday, June 7.  Our last one netted the science/garden program $36.40.  Great!  With Earth Day coming on April 22, this would be a great time to start saving those can!

Mr. Henning still has seeds for sale.  Fifty cents per package.  He has bush beans, peas, corn and radishes. Hurry, they are almost all gone.

Don't forget the SCIENCE FAIR, for fourth, fifth and sixth graders are this coming Thursday, April 19, from 6:00-8:00 p.m.  Come and view all the great projects!

Mr. Henning has purchased a greenhouse for the garden.  He is looking for a few parents to help him get it put up.  He can do it on any day of the week except Sunday.  Contact him at hhenning@compasscharter.org if you would like to help.  Thanks!!

CWI Information Meeting

Tuesday, April 17th at 7:00pm in the school auditorium is the College of Western Idaho (CWI) information meeting for all students and parents interested in learning more about dual credit opportunities available through Compass Honors High School. Students currently in 8th and 9th are welcome to attend even though they are a few years from being eligible to participate in dual credit courses.
ISAT Testing

Students in 3rd through 10th are in the process of completing ISAT testing. It is important that your student be in attendance on their testing days. Please try to avoid appointments for the remainder of April if at all possible. Please check the Events Calendar on the school website for the ISAT schedule.

In addition to being present for testing, students should have a good night’s sleep and eat a good breakfast and lunch on the day of their tests.

The stakes are higher than ever when it comes to performing well on the ISAT. New requirements are in place that requires all schools to provide intervention to students who do NOT perform at proficient. At Compass, the intervention courses are provided during the student’s elective period and/or computer class time. These classes are not offered at any other time.

Additionally, the State has a new school rating system which is tied to student performance on the ISAT. The rating system is then tied to funding for school districts. We don't want our students to stress about the test but it is important that they take their time and give it their BEST effort. Please communicate this with your child.

School Lunch Accounts

Beginning April 9th, students will not be served hot lunch if they do not have money in their account.  The first time they do not have money they will be given a peanut butter sandwich.  The second time they will not be fed.  Please note:  this does NOT include students who receive free lunch.

Senior Projects/No School May 4 & 7

Senior Project presentations are scheduled for Friday, May 4th and Monday, May 7th. There will be no school on these days for students in K-11th.
