School Pictures

Class pictures, Winter and Spring sports pictures, and pre-ordered individual pictures are scheduled on March 9th. In the past, all students took an individual picture and picture packets were sent home for parents to review and order. This is changing, only students who come to school with a completed order form will take an individual picture. Order packets were sent home with students this week.

Shoot-a-thon/Serve-a-thon

The annual Compass fundraiser for the sports program is coming up Friday March 16 at 6:00 at the school.  Your children received their sign up forms this week to ask friends and neighbors for pledges and donations.  Instructions on how to ask for money are on the back of the forms.  The evening will include a no-cost dinner at 6:00, and the shoot-a-thon starts at 7:00.  Don’t miss the opportunity to win cash prizes during the 3-point shot and half-court shot events that evening!  This is a fun event for the whole family, so plan on attending!  Contact Mr. Pinkerman for more information.

Student Led Conferences

Mark your calendars for March 22nd or 23rd as these are the two dates available to attend student led conferences and learn how your student is progressing academically. Watch for further information to be sent home soon.

Choir Performance at the Capitol Building

We are very excited about the opportunity our 4th and 5th grade students have to perform at the State Capitol building on Tuesday, March 6th at 12:00. The students have been practicing and are ready to represent Compass Public Charter School. Feel free to come down to the Capitol next Tuesday to show the students your support!

High School Orientation

We are holding an orientation meeting for incoming high school students and their parents on March 13, from 7-8 PM. The orientation will be in the  school auditorium. Whether you have decided to stay at Compass for high school or if you are still deciding, this meeting is your opportunity to hear what Compass Honors High School has to offer and ask questions you may have.

Food Drive

Compass Girl Scout Troop 262 needs your help.  To celebrate 100 years of Girl Scouts, the Mayor of Meridian is going to honor Girl Scouts this March.  As a result each Girl Scout is being challenged to collect 100 nonperishable items to donate to the Meridian Food Bank.  Troop 262 needs to collect 800 items by March 12.  Please help us help our community by dropping off items in the bucket in the main office at school.  We will accept any nonperishable food items, personal items like toothpaste or soap, and baby needs.  Thanks for joining us in this cause.

Recycling Day

Our next aluminum can recycling day will be Thursday, March 15.  We were down a bit last time.  So far this school year we have had four recycling days with the following results:  August- $25.35; October- $20.35; November- $44.00 and January- $13.00.  That's a total of $102.70!  Not bad.  Keep up the good work and save those cans!  Remember you can drop off cans anytime at the container outside my classroom door or if you get too many and they are in your way just put the bag in the back of my truck.  Go Aviators!

Capital Campaign
The Capital Campaign Committee is looking for volunteers to be on the committee or to help the committee with some of the work that needs to be done.  If you are willing and able to help in any of the following areas, please contact the Capital Campaign Committee Chairman, Merry Trudeau, via email at merry.trudeau@gmail.com.  We are looking for people with experience in the following areas:  fundraising, grant writing, speaking, clerical support, writing skills, research skills, publishing, websites design, or for people wanting to serve on the committee itself.  We are off to a good start and would LOVE your help!
